The WAI Aussie committee has been working tirelessly to ensure they deliver an outstanding biennial conference to their membership and the wider aviation community and are thrilled to announce the incredible support from industry in hosting this outstanding event.
Conference coordinator Lea Vesic shared her thoughts on why you should attend!
‘This year’s conference will offer exclusive opportunities for all attendees! As an example, the Williamtown RAAF Base tour, so generously supported by RAAF and BAE Systems, will be an Australian FIRST with attendees given exclusive access to the latest in Airforce aviation technologies! We are so excited by the generosity extended by our conference sponsors, and to be able to share so many unique experiences that are never available to the average person is an incredible opportunity!
WAI GAINS SUPPORT FROM LEADERS IN AVIATION FIELDS
Various Australian and International aviation companies from a variety of aviation and aerospace backgrounds have come together to offer support to WAI conference delegates sharing unique insight into the many fields and expertise of the aviation opportunities available to women and men in the industry. The conference will also host various networking events as well as workshop and educational activities. Australia’s first round of WAI Australian Aviation Scholarships will also be presented during the Saturday night Gala Dinner, sponsored by the Cessnock City Council.
‘It is common knowledge that women are vastly underrepresented within the many aviation fields and this is where Women in Aviation (WAI) steps in! It is our goal to change the perception that women cannot fly planes, become engineers, air traffic controllers, astronauts and more. Women can do all of these things and much much more. It’s our job to share with the young women of today the many opportunities that aviation offers’. WAI Australian National President Tammy Augostin
WAI is a volunteer, not for profit organisation, devoted to inspiring, supporting, encouraging and mentoring women into the many diverse fields of aviation. Membership is extremely diverse, open to both men and women, from all fields of aviation. With over 15,000 members worldwide.
The National Conference will be held at the Mercure Hunter Valley Gardens Resort in New South Wales, on Friday 28th – Sunday 30th of September 2018.
Conference key focus on engineering (aviation and aerospace) and technical trades (logistics, avionics and aircraft technicians), as well as providing speakers and workshops on various other fields in the industry such as RPAS (Drone) technologies, flying training (airplane and helicopter) and aviation management (air traffic control, airports and airlines)
